Saraswathy Kalakendra Institution of Fine Arts is a bharatanatyam dance school designed for children, teenagers and adults, from beginners to advanced levels. Saraswathy stands for goddess of wisdom and Kala means arts, Kendra means temple.
Presently there are 60 students taking regular dance classes. The youngest
student is 4 years old and the oldest one is 60. The school is international and
open to people of all nationalities. There are currently students of, among
others, Indian, Sri-Lankian, Bangladesh, Swedish, Russian, Polish, Brazilian
origin. Classes are divided according to different levels of dance
sophistication. Students learn not only basic steps and movements, but also
dance theory and history. The broader objective of Kalakendra is to preserve
India's ancient and fabulous cultural heritage through bharatanatyam.
